Paul DermodyPaul Dermody is leaving his position as Head of Commercial and Marketing with Leinster Rugby and will shortly be unveiled in an exciting new role still within the upper echelons of Irish sport.

Dermody previously served as Head of Sponsorship at the GAA before switching codes in December 2013.  He was a key player there in the transition towards the multi sponsor model that is now so deeply embedded in the All Ireland Championships.

The move to Leinster coincided with Bank of Ireland stepping up their involvement and investment in Ireland’s most successful professional team and Dermody has managed that as well as the significant advances in the ways in which the club engages with fans.

Season tickets for 2017/18 are already sold out in most of the premium areas at the RDS for next season and the opportunity to take on a third major sport has proven to be too tempting for the Meath native who has always been a good friend and strong supporter of Sport for Business.

Speaking to us in a wide ranging interview last year Dermody said, in connection with the approach of Leinster that “just like on the field we can never stand still and bask in the achievement of the past.”

We wish him the best of luck in his new role and look forward to revealing where that will be in the near future…
