Volkswagen has been announced as the official mobility partner of UEFA’s international competitions through to 2022.

This matters more in an Irish context than might otherwise be the case because two of those tournaments will be taking place in Dublin.

The Euro 2020 Finals will be spread across the continent for the first time and four of the games will be held in Dublin at the Aviva Stadium.

Before that the UEFA U17 Finals will be held here in 2019, bringing sixteen of the best young teams from across the continent to play in Ireland.

Volkswagen will now be part of both of those tournaments and will be able to build on the underage strength they have here through the Junior Masters tournament they supported here over the weekend.

How the step up in terms of the brand’s engagement with soccer will manifest itself is not yet clear but it is an exciting time.

“We are proud to have hosted another exceptional Volkswagen Junior Masters event this weekend, which saw teams from all over Ireland play some fantastic football in a very sporting manner,” said Volkswagen Ireland Communications Manager Niamh Gaffney.

“It is with great pleasure that I congratulate all teams who took part and the overall winner and Volkswagen Junior Masters Champion 2017, Belvedere FC.”

Sport for Business will follow closely how each of the UEFA partners will be activating around the major tournaments including here in Dublin over the coming years.
