
Over 110 teams will compete in the upcoming season, with a number of players from the SSE Airtricity League on the men’s side and the Continental tyres Women’s League among the squads.
In that sense of combining players that are making their way in the upper reaches of domestic football with student hoping to follow that path, it is itself replicating the focus given to the Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cups in Gaelic Games.

Many of the players who recently represented Ireland at the World University Games in Taipei will also be involved.
“Third Level Football is playing an increasingly important role in the pathway for our young players and we are delighted to see such a great turnout at today’s launch as excitement builds ahead of the new season,” said Mark Scanlon, FAI National Coordinator for Schools and Third Level Football.
