In the run up to last weekend’s Ladies All Ireland Final she was part of the launch of a new awareness campaign to raise awareness around Tested Sports Safe® supplements.
Tested Sports Safe® was developed by the Co. Wicklow-based company, Naturalife Health to reassure elite and aspiring athletes that food supplements that feature the official Tested Sports Safe® logo contain no prohibited substances.
Any product that carries the Tested Sports Safe® logo is certified as Sports Safe and guaranteed to have passed a rigorous, independent testing process by world class sports anti-doping LGC laboratory and meets the official WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) standards.
“As a player, we are always advised to look for WADA approved products to minimise the risk of taking contaminated supplements,” said Staunton.
“I was very happy to see that Naturalife had introduced the Tested Sports Safe® logo, making it easy for us to see at a glance what products are safe to take when shopping in Health Food Stores and Pharmacies.”
“Adding the online technology to check batch numbers in one easy step enables another good practice for all athletes whether amateur or professional to undertake and only takes a few minutes”
“Our testing capability for supplements and ingredients includes the analysis of over 160 substances that are considered prohibited in sport and substances that pose a threat in respect of product contamination,” added Dominic Galvin of Naturalife Health.
“We encourage all athletes to search their product’s batch number online to view its test results as reassurance they are taking tested products”
Health Food supplements that feature the Tested Sports Safe® are independently tested in LGC Laboratory. LGC is a world-renowned sports doping control and research laboratory, with over 50 years of expertise in anti-doping in sport. For more information, please visit http://sportssafe.org/
