Sky Sports has unveiled the 14 exclusive live fixtures it will show during this year’s GAA All Ireland Championship.
The lineup will include five games in the All Ireland Football Quarter Final Round or the Super 8’s as it has become colloquially known.
Kilkenny’s eight-time All-Ireland winner and three-time All-Star, Michael Fennelly, will join the line-up of GAA legends for Sky Sports’ coverage, alongside Peter Canavan, Jim McGuinness, James Horan, Senan Connell, Jamesie O’Connor and Ollie Canning.
Lead commentary will come from Dave McIntyre, continuing to swap channels and codes after his successful debut as the Nat West 6 Nations commentator on TV3, together with Mike Finnerty and supported in the box with co-commentary from Nicky English, new addition Fennelly, Dick Clerkin and Paul Earley, as well as sideline reporting from Damian Lawlor.
Rachel Wyse and Brian Carney will be the hosts of the Sky coverage throughout the summer.
“Our partnership with the GAA has gone from strength to strength and as we enter into this Championship and the next few years, I’m encouraged about the future and how Sky Sports can continue to stand out with innovation, knowledge and expertise at the heart of our GAA coverage,” said Sky Ireland Managing Director JD Buckley.
“This year is arguably the best fixture line up in our five years of GAA broadcasting and through NOW TV it has never been easier or more economical for fans to tune in to Sky Sports and enjoy expert analysis and commentary from some of the most decorated players in the game.”
Sky’s exclusive live coverage will focus on Saturday night games including a doubleheader of Dublin Galway and Wexford Kilkenny in the Leinster Hurling Championship on June 9th.
The Championship Review Show will return to Sky Sports on Wednesday May 16th and will feature highlights from Mayo v Galway, Donegal v Cavan and Dublin v Kilkenny.
Entering into its fifth season of partnership with the GAA, Sky Sports’ investment now extends beyond the Championship, and in 2017 Sky committed to investing €3 million over five years into grassroots initiatives including the GAA Super Games Centres, the GAA Youth Forum and the GAA Games Development Conference.
This year, Sky Sports will be going on the road with a live preview show at Liam Mellows GAA club in Galway for a special hurling preview evening ahead of the Championship and Kilmacud Crokes GAA club for a football preview night.
The Full line up of games to be covered live on RTÉ TV and SKY this summer is as follows. The All Ireland Semi Finals and Final in both Hurling and Football will be shown live on both RTÉ and SkyTV
