GAA ticket prices are to rise for the first time in eight years following a decision taken by Ard Chomhairle, the Association’s main governing body on Saturday.

Some of the changes will take effect from the opening weekend of the Allianz Leagues with advance prices for the top two divisions seeing a rise from €12 to €15 for adults on tickets bought in advance.

Tickets bought on the day in the top flights will be €20 for adults with students and senior citizens able to buy at €15. Children under the age of 16 will be admitted free unless the game is all-ticket when they will be charged €5.

The games at the lower levels will remain unchanged at €10 and €5 respectively for adults and concessions.

There will also be increases in Championship matches during the summer.
Matches in the All Ireland Qualifiers will rise from €15 to €20 in the early rounds and to €25 in Round 4.

The Quarter Final series or ‘Super 8’ as it was colloquially known will remain unchanged.

There will be an increase of €5 per ticket, to €50 for seating and €35 for terrace tickets in the All Ireland Semi Finals and of €10 to €90 and €45 for the All Ireland Finals.

There are changes in how any additional revenues will be distributed as well.

Extra money from the Championship ticket changes will be ringfenced to fund an increase in grants to club facility redevelopments to a new high of €3m; to fund additional grant aid to overseas units and towards the staging of the GAA World Games in July. There will also be increases in capital grants and funding to county boards.

The Association will publish its annual financial accounts in the coming weeks.

The GAA’s ticketing is managed by Tickets.ie with advance ticket sales available online and from Centra and Supervalu stores around the country.
