
It’s as simple as it gets being a thumbs up and those two words but the effect of his catastrophic injuries suffered this time last year on the way to a Liverpool game mean it was anything but simple for him to do.
Cox will be leaving the medical environment for the first time to attend the match and is assured of a bigger and louder welcome even than any of the stars on show.
They will include Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Robbie Keane and many more.
Cox’s wife Martina revealed on RTÉ Radio yesterday that they will be going to a rehab facility in the UK shortly.
“He’s very determined and always have been. Any challenge that has come his way he’s faced it,” she told Ray Darcy.
“You can’t give up but I think one of the most important things to know is that he has to get the proper rehabilitation because if he doesn’t get that he won’t progress.”
A number of clubs in the SSE Airtricity League had considered switching their Friday night fixtures to avoid a clash with the game but all will go ahead now as planned.
