The PWC Staff Relay Series concluded in Dublin last night with 5,000 runners taking part in addition to the near 1,500 who had run the previous night.

Over 1,200 teams took part in the 5 x 5KM relay over the two nights with a real mix of competitive and out for a laugh runs.

RTÉ successfully defended their title from last year and shaved another two minutes off their time coming home in 1:26.54. That gave them just over three minutes of an advantage over runners up the KN Group. The fastest of the record-breaking 150 teams that took part from PWC came in a further one minute back with HSBC in fourth and Scor Global Life Reassurance in fifth.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch were the fastest on Wednesday night bringing them in sixth overall.

Others from within the Sport for Business Community to have shone and smiled included Allianz, Bank of Ireland, Richmond Marketing and Teneo.

The event had a large tented village through which the runners came to vocal support from their own colleagues as well as those others who had come along to watch.

PWC Managing Partner Fergal O’Rourke bemoaned having recorded his slowest time in the series to date but put that down to not having put the miles in and vowed to get back to a faster time next year.

The sun shone, the music played and with over 6,000 taking part, it was one of the biggest corporate sports events of this or any other year.
