There wil be a new look to an important element of Croke Park this weekend with news that Extra.ie have become the sponsors of the Croke Park Museum.
It’s a fitting link given that the special exhibition currently on display covers the role of the Media and the GAA.
Among the highlights in that are commentary and footage from Micheál O’Hehir’s commentary on the 1947 All-Ireland Football Final, broadcast from the Polo Grounds in New York, between Cavan and Kerry.
At a time when media is changing so rapidly it is a timely reminder of just how important the link between the two is.
Extra.ie is Irish specifict online arm of the Daily Mail. It came on board as the new sponsor of the FAI Cup this season and is clearly looking to expand in the sports media space.
Coverage on the site this morning is largely led by the English Premier League but that is hardly out of step with much of mainstream media and there is a dedicated GAA section and video content of Bernard Brogan Sr at the announcement of the sponsorship.
Few more details have been made public yet but as they are we will bring them to you here on Sport for Business.
