It was to have been a weekend of Italian celebration with three Guinness Six Nations games taking place. That has been pushed back to an unspecified date in the future as the Corona Virus hold in Italian public health prompted a postponement but there was still plenty of sporting action taking place around the country.
One of the biggest indoor events was the celebration of Gymnastics that took place at the Sport Ireland Indoor Arena with 2,000 participants up four-fold on last year as the surge of interest in the sport continues.


We did not have Irish Rugby in action but there was plenty of action from the Guinness Six Nations including a major surprise in Murrayfield and a dramatic if not altogether above board clash between England and Wales at Twickenham.


All Ireland Champions Tipperary exited the Allianz National League in hurling after a late comeback in Galway’s Pearse Stadium.


Sunday was International Women’s Day and there was plenty going on around the country and on social media as we have covered elsewhere on Sport for Business this morning.

Speaking of design it is good to see the FAI putting some real thought into the promotion of the underage set up with this tweet highlighting upcoming games for the U17 Women’s team


There was plenty of action off the playing fields as well with the Ladies Gaelic Football Association holding its Annual Congress in Loughrea.


But the weekend finished on a down note as the French Government appeared to end hopes of next weekend’s Guinness Six Nations matches between France and Ireland going ahead…
