It was a very successful weekend for Irish Show Jumping with Shane Sweetnam and Cian O’Connor both winning major titles over the past two nights.
Both were competing at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida.
Sweetnam came out on top after a dramatic jump-off against the clock when he was the last to compete and ended up with a clear round and a time that was one-tenth of a second inside the runner-up Martin Fuchs of Switzerland.
Total prize money for the five star Grand Prix event was $401,000.
24 hours later Cian O’Connor did the same in reverse when he won after going first in a jump-off round against the clock, finishing two one-hundredths of a second clear of his nearest rival.
The prize money for this two-star grand Prix was $50,000.
All in all a lucrative winning weekend for Team Ireland.
