As Brentford FC take their place as the 50th team to take part in the English Premier League, we caught up with Consultant Sports Psychologist at the club, Michael Caulfield to find out about the excitement around the club, how the hope and belief is that they will stick to the principles that have brought them this far and about his own connections to sport in Ireland…

“We don’t have a global, worldwide base of supporters. In the main, you could throw a blanket over the fan base here in West London.”

“The ethos of the club is about the community, the players and the fans.”

“It is hard to think of a comparable statistic between Brentford and the likes of Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid other than the fact that our pitch is the same size.”
