Bettystown Beach will play host to a Beach Volley Festival on August 28 and 29 with Pundit Arena live streaming all the action from the event on Sunday.
The National VLY Beach Tour is a new and exciting initiative from Volleyball Ireland which aims to provide a clear pathway from Participation to Performance.
This is the third stage of the tour with new and prospective players introduced to the sport in a fun and social manner at first, then a step-up edition and now the top end event taking place on Sunday with elite players going head to head in a tournament played to international standard with entry by qualification only.
The women’s event promises to be a multicultural affair with players from Brazil, Lithuania, Russia, Malta and the USA, among other countries, all lining out.
Pundit Arena will stream the event in conjunction with the Federation of Irish Sport and Sport Ireland as part of their Women in Sport initiative.
The Sunday programme also includes a Junior Tour Event featuring the best young talent from across the island of Ireland.
“The 2021 VLY Beach Tour has really taken off with a record number of new players and younger players taking part,” said Gary Stewart, General Manager of Volleyball Ireland.
“We’re really thankful to Pundit Arena, the Federation of Irish Sport and Sport Ireland for their support, helping us to showcase our athletes.”
“We’re delighted to be working with Volleyball Ireland to showcase this event nationwide,” added Matt Steerman, Commercial Director of Pundit Arena.
“We’ll have all centre court games live from 10 am, bringing to life not only the amazing athletes but also the unique stories from the sport and ambassadors of the game.”
