We were joined this morning by Damian Walsh, a lifelong volunteer coach within Belfast Boxing and his son Aidan, Olympic Bronze Medalist from Tokyo.
The lads were launching the Federation of Irish Sports Volunteer in Sport Awards, in partnership with EBS.
We spoke about:
- The great rewards that come from volunteering in sport, far outweighing the time that it eats up.
- Aidan’s first memories of being brought to the club with his Dad at the age of seven.
- Channelling Mohammed Ali in the idea that “What you do for others is the rent you pay for being on this earth.”
