There were the occasional moments of seriousness but thankfully nothing to spoil the admittedly wet vibe of the return of the Sports Direct Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others blitz on Saturday.
After a summer of drought and soaring temperatures, we could have done with one more day of blue skies but it was not to be as 2,500 players descended on Malahide and Portmarnock for the first full gathering of this great initiative since 2019.
132 teams took part in the jam-packed day of football, fun, and entertainment.
Sports Direct, as sponsors of the Gaelic4Mothers&Others programme, teamed up with well-known podcaster Laurita Blewitt, who has joined up with her local Gaelic4Mothers&Others club in Knockmore, county Mayo.
Laurita was making her return to Ladies Gaelic Football for the first time in nine years.
The National Blitz followed on from regional ones that took place across the country throughout the summer and provided a brilliant way to get women who might not have played for years or even never at all, involved in the fun.
Games took place on 22 pitches throughout the day, alongside a silent disco and the Sports Direct photo-wall.
When all the action was wrapped there was then an after-blitz party which looked to have been anything but silent.
The initiative has proven immensely popular since its inception, with almost 400 clubs from all 32 counties currently involved, with the aim to grow this further throughout the remainder of the year and into 2023.
