Michael Smith and Michael Van Gerwen served up a final for the ages and while watching it on playback only creates a fraction of what it was like to watch live, it is one that will stand the test of time.

It captures the sporting world’s attention once a year between Christmas and into the New Year and it is simply brilliant TV. It is a wild live experience as well but trying to get tickets for Belfast in February or Dublin in March is as easy as hitting a nine-dart finish.
