The 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games will take place in Berlin, Germany from tomorrow June 17 to 25.
Special Olympics Ireland will send a team of 73 athletes, supported by a 36-strong coaching and management team to compete in 12 sports at this prestigious event.
This is the largest inclusive sporting event in the world and Team Ireland has a strong legacy on the world stage.
John McNaboe is the Head of Delegation and Margaret Turley, who blew us away at our Sporting Year Ahead event in January is part of the Basketball team that has travelled out.
Sport for Business will have daily updates from Team Ireland at the Games from Monday, and will bring you news of a special celebration next weekend of the 20th Anniversary of when the World Games were staged in Dublin.
“Let me win, but if I cannot win let me be brave in the attempt,” as the Athletes pledge at the games says.
Aer Lingus, eir and Gala Retail are among the partners helping Special Olympics for this event and in their day to day delivery of sport.
