The men’s Rugby Sevens team have beaten Portugal 24-0 today to advance to this evening’s final against Great Britain (8.35pm Irish time), where the winner will secure Olympic qualification. The game will be streamed live on EuropeanGames.TV which is accessible from the RTÉ.ie website and mobile channels.
“It’ll be a big few hours, a big night tonight with hopefully a big game,” said Ireland player Billy Dardis.
“We need to just try and recover now, focus, and get on task for this big one. There’s no motivation needed for a big Olympic qualifier so it’ll just be about getting our jobs right, getting our roles right and going out there to execute it.”
The winner will book a direct ticket to compete in the Paris Olympics next summer, the loser will go to a World Repecharge event for one final shot.
