As we discovered at the Sport for Business Sporting Year Ahead last month, Thammy Nguyen is an athlete who wears her heart on her sleeve.

Our sense that she would win the hearts of our audience of 170 sporting and business leaders was an understatement and we were delighted when earlier this week she won a second and then a third Bronze Medal for Ireland at the European Weightlifting Championships.

We had seen her force of nature personality. The building of three businesses, the bearing two children, the living of life at full tilt and the ambition to return to sport inspired by the achievement of her young brother in Badminton.

But success is not always easy and in the moment she posted an emotional message on social media.

That is tough to read but the support she has from family and friends will get her through and allow us to see again the best of Thammy.

Well done Thammy on the medals in the Clean and Jerk and the overall at 49kg, and for being you.
