Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium in Dublin has achieved a notable double victory at the 2025 Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards, held on May 1 at The Convention Centre Dublin. The stadium’s recent redevelopment was honoured with two prestigious awards: the Architectural Design Excellence Award and the Project Fit-Out Award for projects up to €5 million.
The transformation of Shelbourne Park aimed to modernise the nearly century-old venue, enhancing its appeal and functionality. Key upgrades included the addition of a new café, sports bar, and museum, alongside general improvements to the facility. The project was meticulously planned to minimise disruption to the racing schedule, with construction completed within a tight seven-month timeframe.
The redevelopment was a collaborative effort between LAM Architects and Grant Fit Out Ltd., with Tara Lamb serving as the lead architect. The project’s success reflects a commitment to revitalising Shelbourne Park as a premier event destination in Dublin, capable of hosting various events beyond traditional race nights.
“To see Shelbourne Park honoured not once, but twice last night is a tremendous achievement and a source of great pride for everyone involved,” said Tim Lucey, CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland.
“These awards highlight not just the design excellence and quality of the fit-out, but the powerful collaboration behind the project. Congratulations and sincere thanks to Tara Lamb and the team at LAM Architects, and to Grant Fit Out, whose shared commitment brought this transformation to life.”
“Shelbourne Park is now a world-class venue that proudly reflects its past while embracing the future.”
This double award success reflects the continued investment in revitalising and reinforcing greyhound racing’s cultural and sporting significance in Ireland.
It also underscores Shelbourne Park’s evolution into a versatile, modern venue that continues to honour its rich heritage while embracing contemporary design and functionality.
