The British & Irish Lions have today announced a new partnership with STATSports, the world’s leading provider of GPS athlete monitoring technology, ahead of their eagerly anticipated 2025 Tour of Australia.
It is another Irish angle to the Lions tour, and there is another to come in tomorrow morning’s Sport for Business bulletin.
As Official Supplier, STATSports will provide the wearable tracking technology and performance analysis support to the Lions, equipping the team’s players and coaching staff with data insights to optimise performance, manage load, and minimise injury risk throughout the Tour.
“The cutting-edge STATSports technology will play a crucial role in ensuring our players are physically ready for the unique challenges of a Lions Tour,” said British & Irish Lions Sports Scientist and Strength and Conditioning Coach Ben Pollard.
“Preparation and performance are at the heart of everything we do and partnering with a brand like STATSports will allow us to deliver the highest standards of support and care to our players.”
Partnering with the British & Irish Lions is a tremendous honour,” added Sean O’Connor, Co-Founder of STATSports.
“The Lions represent the pinnacle of rugby excellence and we’re proud to support their campaign in Australia with the same technology used by the world’s top teams.”
“Our goal is to give the players every performance edge possible and contribute to what promises to be an unforgettable tour.”
STATSports technology is already used by leading rugby unions and clubs worldwide, including New Zealand’s All Blacks, current world champions, South Africa, Irish Rugby and numerous teams across the URC, Gallagher Premiership, Top 14 and Super Rugby.
The Qatar Airways Lions Men’s Series 2025 to Australia begins later this month, with the first Test against Australia on Saturday, July 19th in Brisbane.
