Five moments of the sporting weekend, from Thurles to Santry via Moscow, Stockholm and London.
 – The number of goals scored by Cork in this seasons All Ireland Hurling Championship in reaching the semi final.  The last time this happened was when Galway made it that far with a bye prior to joining the Leinster Championship.  It is also the number of days in August that Kilkenny and Tipperary, the two dominant sides of recent years will spend in the Championship.
 – The number of penalties saved by German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer, one in each half, en route to her country winning the European Championship in Women’s soccer via a 1-0 victory over Norway in Sweden.

– Gold medals won by Kelly Proper at the Woodies DIY National Athletics Championships in Santry on Sunday.  100 and 200 metres, long jump and the anchor leg of a 4×100 metre triumph for her club.

 – Michael Hoey’s win in the Russian Open Golf Championship in Moscow brought to five the number of European Tour events he has won. That is the same number as Rory McIlroy.
,000,000 – The amount in pounds sterling to be spent on tearing apart the London Olympic Stadium to repurpose it for use as a home ground for West Ham United.  At least it went out with a full house of athletics as Olympian and Paralympian stars enjoyed the Anniversary Games at the weekend.
