Dublin Vs Cork GAA 2013There are two sides capable of winning an All Ireland Double in Football and Hurling and both will meet in the next rounds of the respective Championships.

Dublin made it through by winning the Leinster Championship in both codes while Cork have come through the back door in their bid to relive the last time they won both in 1990.

The Football Quarter Final takes place at Croke Park as part of a double header with Monaghan and Tyrone next Saturday and will likely attract a massive crowd. The Hurling will take place eight days later, again in GAA Headquarters but in front of a likely smaller crowd.

It has been an electric Hurling Championship season but the lesser numbers of Dublin fans traditionally attracted by the sport added to a traditional reluctance on the part of Cork fans to travel in great numbers other than for a Final may mean less than might be expected for the second encounter.

Attendance figures at the Championship are up across all provinces this year over last, but may be boosted further were it possible to do a promotion on tickets for the ‘City Series’ covering the two games.

Tickets have already been placed on sale for the Football Quarter Final and it may be impossible to create a special double ticket.

The Association scored great credit and a sold out stadium for the replay of last year’s All Ireland Hurling final though, and with pressure on family finances in following both codes a reduction, even if only for the second game, which would be technically possible, would generate much goodwill and more fans in the ground to cheer what has been a special summer so far for both counties.
