Munster’s new Adidas Kit featuring Bank of Ireland’s return as principal club sponsors will be going on sale in official retail partner Lifestyle Sports shops on Saturday.
The organisation has been promoting the new shirt and the revival of the Bank association on social media this week, giving away a jersey a day for tweets remembering highlights of the previous period in which the name adorned the jersey.
The twitter theme will accelerate on Friday evening when Munster Captain Peter O’Mahoney will take part in a question and answer session with followers of the Munster and Bank of Ireland twitter accounts from 6pm.
The decision to sponsor Munster alongside Leinster and Ulster was revealed back in May though the official Bank of Ireland site still lists the Bank only as the official banking partner rather than sponsor and will be due an update.
It is likely that there will be multiple cross promotions between the teams over the course of the next season and each of the commercial teams will be keen to deliver the best possible sponsorship experience for the bank which announced in recent weeks that it was close to a return to profitablility.
Bank of Ireland previously sponsored the All Ireland Football Championship and has kept a smaller association with GAA through support for the DCU GAA Academy.
Throughout the banking crisis it was the ‘pillar bank’ that required least financial assistance from the state and with an impending return to more normal business principles it may well be that sporting sponsorship will form a greater plank again in the Bank of Ireland approach to customer and commercial engagement.
