Virgin Media Television has confirmed that Irish rugby icon and Munster legend Conor Murray will join its expert rugby panel as an analyst for the upcoming Guinness Six Nations Championship, which gets underway on 5 February 2026.

One of the most influential players of his generation, Murray brings a depth of experience to the role, having enjoyed a distinguished career with Munster and Ireland over more than a decade at the highest level of the game.

Renowned for his tactical intelligence, leadership and game management, he has been a central figure in Ireland’s modern era of success.

Murray’s international honours include five Six Nations titles, two of which were achieved as part of Grand Slam-winning campaigns, along with appearances at multiple Rugby World Cups and British & Irish Lions Tours. Those achievements have cemented his reputation as one of Ireland’s greats and one of the standout scrum-halves in world rugby.

Now transitioning from the pitch to the studio, Murray will offer viewers a rare, contemporary perspective on the international game. Fresh from an illustrious playing career and with an intimate understanding of the current Ireland setup, his analysis is expected to provide unique insight into the tactical and technical nuances shaping modern Test rugby.

The Six Nations remains one of the most anticipated fixtures in the global sporting calendar, drawing huge audiences across television and digital platforms. Virgin Media Television has become a cornerstone of rugby coverage in Ireland, and will once again deliver comprehensive live coverage, expert studio discussion and on-demand content to ensure fans never miss a moment of the championship.

Announcing the appointment, Brian Gleeson, Head of Sport at Virgin Media Television, highlighted the value Murray brings to the panel. He said that rugby “evolves at an incredible pace,” and that having someone of Murray’s calibre, who has only just stepped away from the professional game, provides “invaluable insight into the modern game and the current Ireland setup.”

Gleeson also noted the significance of adding a Munster voice to the broadcaster’s established analysis team, led by Joe Molloy, describing it as “an incredible way to kick off our coverage on Thursday night against France in Paris.”
