The Island Golf Club has announced a new partnership with Irish golf star Lauren Walsh, who will serve as the club’s Official Touring Professional as she prepares for her debut season on the LPGA Tour.
Founded in 1890 and located among the dunes north of Malahide in County Dublin, The Island is one of Ireland’s most historic and respected links courses. The club confirmed the partnership this week, highlighting Walsh’s long-standing connection with the venue and her rise through the ranks of Irish and international golf.
Walsh, originally from Kildare, has been a member of The Island for more than a decade. During that time the club has followed her journey from promising amateur to professional golfer, culminating in her securing LPGA Tour status for the 2026 season after an impressive campaign on the Ladies European Tour.
As part of the new arrangement, Walsh will act as a key ambassador for the club throughout the 2026 season. She will represent The Island Golf Club at LPGA Tour events and international competitions, showcasing the club’s heritage while highlighting its role in supporting elite Irish sporting talent.
When back in Ireland between tour commitments, Walsh will also use the club’s practice facilities as a base for her preparation.
“We are incredibly proud to formally announce our partnership with Lauren as our Official Touring Professional,” said Donal Boyle, President of The Island Golf Club. “Lauren has been a valued member of The Island for over ten years, and we’ve had the privilege of watching her develop from a talented amateur into an LPGA Tour player.”
“Her work ethic, humility and competitive spirit embody everything we stand for as a club. To see her earn her 2026 LPGA status after such a stellar season on the Ladies European Tour is a fantastic achievement, and we are delighted to support her as she represents The Island on the world stage. She is a wonderful ambassador for both Irish golf and our club.”
Walsh’s progression has been closely followed within Irish golf circles in recent years. Having established herself on the Ladies European Tour, her performances across the 2025 season secured the points and rankings needed to earn playing privileges on the LPGA Tour for 2026, marking the next step in her professional career.
The partnership with The Island Golf Club provides a natural extension of a relationship that has already spanned more than a decade.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with The Island Golf Club,” Walsh said. “I’ve been a member here for ten years and I absolutely love the course.”
“When I’m back in Ireland, I really enjoy the true links test at The Island, and it really helps me tighten up areas of my game that need work. Their whole team have been so supportive over the years and I am so proud to be representing them.”
The Island Golf Club’s links course is widely regarded as one of the most challenging and scenic layouts in Ireland. Set among dramatic sand dunes along the north Dublin coastline, it offers a classic links experience that has helped shape the development of many Irish golfers.
The club was ranked ninth in Irish Golfer magazine’s Top 100 Courses in Ireland list for 2026, further cementing its reputation among the country’s leading venues.
