TG4’s flagship horse racing programme Rásaí Beo will return to screens this Saturday, 4 April, with live coverage from Fairyhouse Racecourse and the opening weekend of the Easter Festival, signalling the start of another extensive season of free-to-air racing.

The broadcaster’s coverage will include a detailed preview of the Boyle Sports Irish Grand National, one of the highlights of the Irish racing calendar, which takes place on Easter Monday. Last year’s race was won by Haiti Couleurs, trained by Rebecca Curtis, and anticipation is already building ahead of this year’s renewal.

TG4 will once again deliver a comprehensive schedule of live racing from venues across Ireland through the summer months, reinforcing its role in bringing the sport to a broad national audience.

Coverage in May will include Royal Ascot Trials Day from Naas Racecourse, offering more than €300,000 in prize money and serving as a key stepping stone towards Royal Ascot. Just over a week later, the cameras will return to Ballinrobe Racecourse for the fifth consecutive year, featuring the Mayo National, won in 2025 by Danny Gilligan aboard Western Fold for trainer Gordon Elliott.

Following a successful debut visit last year, Rásaí Beo will again broadcast from Cork Racecourse, where the Munster Oaks will headline proceedings. That addition brought the programme’s footprint to 23 of Ireland’s 26 racecourses, underlining TG4’s commitment to nationwide representation.

Key Summer and Autumn Festivals

The schedule will also feature live coverage from the Galway Races at Ballybrit, one of the most popular events in the Irish sporting and social calendar, with broadcasts planned across multiple days.

In September, the programme will return to Listowel Racecourse for the Harvest Festival, extending a partnership that now spans 22 consecutive years. The 168th running of the festival will once again include the Kerry National, won in 2025 by Spanish Harlem, trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by Danny Mullins.

Coverage throughout the season will be led by Seán Bán Breathnach, alongside Mánus Ó Conghaile, Sarah Lynam, Tomás Báicéir and Évelyn Ní Ghriallais. Daragh Ó Conchúir will report from the parade ring, providing interviews and insights from key racing figures, while Meghann Scully will join the team for festival coverage in Galway and Listowel.

With a calendar spanning many of Ireland’s most recognisable racecourses, Rásaí Beo continues to play an important role in promoting the visibility and accessibility of horse racing, offering fans nationwide access to live action, expert analysis and behind-the-scenes storytelling across the 2026 season.
