The KPMG Women’s Irish Open will move to Dun Laoghaire Golf Club in 2027, bringing one of the largest events on the Ladies European Tour closer to Dublin and to a venue with a proven record of staging elite women’s golf.

The tournament week will run from August 2nd to 8th, 2027, at the club’s 320-acre Ballyman Glen site on the border between Dublin and Wicklow.  This will place it the week after the AIG Women’s Open Championship at Royal St George’s in England, the final major of the season.

The move will follow the 2026 championship at The K Club and represents the latest stage in the development of an event which has grown considerably since returning to the Ladies European Tour calendar in 2022.

Dun Laoghaire’s relative proximity to Dublin city, the M50 and the wider commuter belt is expected to open the tournament to a significant new audience.

The venue also brings important championship history.

Its 27-hole course was designed by international golf architect Martin Hawtree and is divided into three nine-hole loops, allowing organisers flexibility in designing the tournament layout and spectator experience.

The club previously hosted the Curtis Cup in 2016, when Great Britain and Ireland defeated the United States 11½–8½ in front of crowds which exceeded expectations.

Leona Maguire, Olivia Mehaffey and Maria Dunne were part of the victorious Great Britain and Ireland team, giving a number of Ireland’s current professional players a direct connection with the venue.

“We are delighted that Dun Laoghaire Golf Club has been selected to host the KPMG Women’s Irish Open in 2027,” said club president Declan Curran.

“This is a significant event in the Irish sporting calendar, for golf in general and women’s golf in particular.”

“Our members and staff look forward to welcoming the players, officials, spectators, stakeholders and broadcast partners.”

“Dun Laoghaire Golf Club hosted a memorable Curtis Cup in 2016, and we are sure that the KPMG Women’s Irish Open in 2027 will be another memorable sporting occasion.”

Bringing the Tournament Closer to Dublin

The 2027 move continues an approach which has seen the championship rotate between leading Irish venues while seeking to increase attendances, commercial participation and the overall spectator experience.

Dromoland Castle hosted the first two editions following the tournament’s return in 2022, before the event moved to Carton House for 2024 and 2025.

The 2026 championship will be played on the Palmer South Course at The K Club from August 27th to 30th.

The event is now attracting approximately 40,000 spectators,  a 46 per cent increase on the level recorded when KPMG became title sponsor for the return of the event in 2022.

The move to Ballyman Glen will offer ForeFront Group, which promotes the championship, an opportunity to build on that growth by drawing from the populations of south Dublin, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Bray, north Wicklow and the wider capital region.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the KPMG Women’s Irish Open to Dun Laoghaire Golf Club in 2027,” said ForeFront Group CEO Cian Branagan.

“We’ve been fortunate to host the tournament at some fantastic venues over the past number of years, and each move has been about raising the bar further.”

“Dun Laoghaire’s setting and proximity to Dublin represent a unique opportunity to bring the championship to new crowds.”

“We’re looking forward to working closely with the team at the club to deliver an unforgettable experience for members, players, fans and partners alike.”

The local authority will also support the staging of the event, adding a public and community dimension to the commercial backing provided by the tournament’s sponsors.

“We are thrilled to be supporting the 2027 KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club,” said An Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Councillor Barry Saul.

“Over the past number of years, we’ve watched the tournament go from strength to strength, inspiring more people to take up golf while showcasing Ireland on the world stage.”

“Hosting this event is a fantastic opportunity for our community, and we look forward to extending a warm Dun Laoghaire welcome to players, fans and visitors from across Ireland and beyond.”

Long-Term Sponsor Support

The growth of the tournament has been supported by KPMG, which came on board as title sponsor when the event returned after a ten-year absence in 2022.

The professional services firm has subsequently agreed a further three-year extension of the partnership. It also supports Leona Maguire and operates the KPMG Irish Kids Golf Tour for players aged between six and 13.

Sport Ireland also provides financial support for the championship as part of wider Government investment in major professional golf events staged in Ireland.

The KPMG Women’s Irish Open was voted Tournament of the Year by Ladies European Tour players in both 2024 and 2025, strengthening its reputation for the quality of the course presentation, player experience, crowds and tournament delivery.

The 2027 edition is expected to include a welcoming hospitality programme, family entertainment and opportunities for supporters to engage with the players away from the competitive action.

Under-16s will once again be admitted free, maintaining an important element of the tournament’s objective to introduce more young people to women’s golf.

Sport for Business Perspective

The move to Dun Laoghaire Golf Club provides the KPMG Women’s Irish Open with a powerful combination of access, championship heritage and commercial potential.

Moving even closer to Dublin should make the event more attractive to spectators, corporate guests, sponsors and broadcast partners, while the club’s Curtis Cup history gives the venue an immediate connection with Leona Maguire and the modern generation of Irish professionals.

It is also another example of how a successful title partnership can support the long-term development of an event rather than simply attach a brand name to it.

KPMG’s commitment since 2022 has coincided with larger crowds, greater visibility and the tournament’s progression across a series of high-profile venues.

Sport Ireland and Government support provide another part of that foundation, recognising the value of the championship in showcasing women’s sport, promoting Ireland internationally and inspiring greater participation.

The next step will be to deliver the 2026 tournament successfully at The K Club before attention turns to Dun Laoghaire and what could become the largest edition of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open so far.

We are excited to be a partner on both events.
