The Olympic Federation of Ireland has opened public nominations for the 2026 Team Ireland Olympic Sport Awards, bringing supporters into the selection process and giving the organisation’s commercial partners another opportunity to connect with the achievements and personalities of Irish sport.
Three categories are open for public nominations this year, with Event of the Year, Image of the Year and the Community Impact Award offering recognition beyond the traditional measures of medals, rankings and international results.
Supported by media partner Off The Ball, the initiative invites the public to highlight memorable sporting occasions hosted in Ireland, photographs that capture the emotion of Olympic sport, and individuals or initiatives making a difference in their communities.
The approach broadens the awards’ reach and creates opportunities for engagement among clubs, National Governing Bodies, event organisers and supporters in the weeks leading up to the ceremony on November 28.
The commercial support behind this year’s programme is also notable, with nine award categories carrying individual sponsorship.
McKvr is supporting Event of the Year, Fiat is backing Image of the Year and SPAR/EUROSPAR is associated with the Community Impact Award.
Allianz maintains its prominent position in the Olympic sporting landscape by sponsoring both Female and Male Athlete of the Year, while Sport Ireland is attached to Rising Star.
Flogas sponsors Team of the Year, Key Patent Innovations backs Coach of the Year, and Deloitte supports the High-Performance Programme of the Year.
The President’s Award completes the programme.
The OFI’s invitation to the public will also encourage National Governing Bodies and sporting organisations to mobilise their own communities behind nominations, creating additional visibility for their athletes, events and programmes.
Nominations will remain open until October 25, with shortlists to be announced for a subsequent public vote.
Photographs submitted for Image of the Year must be nominated by the photographer or with their permission.
The 2026 Team Ireland Olympic Sport Awards will take place on November 28.
