Irish sports technology company Anyscor has launched its live scoring and fan engagement platform in the United States, taking the next step in an international growth strategy built around the commercial potential of grassroots sport.
Founded by Colin Deering, the company’s US activity will initially centre on Philadelphia, where he is working with clubs, tournament organisers and sporting bodies on pilot projects. The business plans a local office and team as it develops.
The expansion follows on from Deering’s participation in a Sport for Business-curated sports technology panel in Dublin earlier this month, held in front of a delegation from the Washington DC Mayor’s Office.
Moderated by Rob Hartnett, the October 7 discussion also featured Fionn Herlihy of WiiStream and Craig Bewley of SportsKey. Its purpose as part of a World Trade Centre trip was to showcase Irish businesses developing technology for sport here and then expanding in the larger US market.
Anyscor addresses the universal challenge for grassroots clubs of keeping supporters informed while reducing the demands on the volunteers providing those updates.
Its scoring app lets team officials record scores and match events, while supporters can follow fixtures, results, and statistics in a separate fan app.
The commercial model links that activity to advertising and sponsorship opportunities, allowing participating clubs to share in revenue generated by their digital audiences.
Among its early US developments is a soccer pilot involving teams connected to a governing body representing 375 clubs, including live scoring, at the Jack Walsh Memorial Tournament in the Philadelphia area.
Anyscor first launched in the Energia All-Ireland League in September 2023. It now reports a fan app audience of more than 25,000 and more than 2,500 matches scored through the platform.
The company is also raising €750,000 to support international expansion, commercial capability and continued product development. Its platform now supports rugby, soccer, hockey, and Gaelic games, broadening opportunities beyond its initial rugby base.
Sport for Business Perspective
Grassroots club commands strong loyalty, but turning that attention into measurable value for sponsors remains a challenge.
Anyscor’s US expansion will test how readily an Irish-developed platform can adapt to different competition structures and volunteer practices.
Its participation in this month’s Dublin panel also shows the value of putting emerging Irish sports technology businesses in direct conversation with international delegations.
