Chadwicks has used its lead partnership with Shelbourne FC to give one of its trade customers a rare place at the centre of a major sporting sponsorship, handing Ashbourne-based A.S.K. Mechanical the front-of-shirt position across matches involving both the club’s men’s and women’s teams.
The mechanical contractor won the position through Chadwicks’ Jersey Swap competition, an initiative designed to turn one of the most visible assets within the Shelbourne partnership into a promotional platform for businesses from within the Chadwicks customer base.
A.S.K. Mechanical appeared on the front of the Shelbourne men’s jersey for the League of Ireland fixture against Sligo Rovers at Tolka Park on October 9.
A week later, on October 17, the branding moved to the women’s shirt as Shelbourne, fresh from winning the FAI Cup, faced Athlone Town.
Both games came during the closing stages of the respective domestic seasons and gave the company exposure to supporters in the ground, broadcast and digital audiences around the matches and the wider Shelbourne fan base.
The A.S.K. Mechanical team was also hosted in the recently developed hospitality area at Tolka Park, adding an experiential element to the prize.
Established in 2015 by Managing Director Alan Kelly, A.S.K. Mechanical provides domestic and commercial mechanical services, including heating systems, heat pumps, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical fit-outs.
Its work spans healthcare, education, hospitality, commercial offices, warehousing, residential development and social housing.
“We were absolutely delighted to be selected for this fantastic opportunity from Chadwicks,” said Kelly.
“It was a really proud moment for the whole team to see the A.S.K. Mechanical logo on the front of both the Shelbourne men’s and women’s jerseys.”
“It was a great chance to showcase our business to a wider audience. Seeing our name on the pitch across both matchdays was a brilliant experience, and one we were thrilled to share with our colleagues, customers and families.”
Chadwicks has been developing its association with Shelbourne around a combination of traditional sponsorship visibility and engagement with the trade community which forms the core of its business.
“Congratulations to Alan and the team at A.S.K. Mechanical on winning the Chadwicks Jersey Swap competition,” said Tara Brennan, Marketing Director at Chadwicks Group.
“A.S.K. Mechanical has been a valued Chadwicks customer since the company was established in 2015, and we were delighted to afford them this opportunity to promote their business to a wide audience.”
Sport for Business Perspective
The smartest sponsorship activations often take an asset a brand already owns and make it valuable to someone else.
Chadwicks could simply have retained its position on the Shelbourne shirt. Instead, it converted that visibility into something a trade customer could never normally access.
For A.S.K. Mechanical, the value lies in the scale and credibility that comes from seeing your company name on the front of a professional football shirt.
For Chadwicks, the bigger return is showing its wider customer community that its investment in sport can create opportunities for them, too.
That moves the partnership beyond awareness and toward relationship building, which, for a business rooted so heavily in the trade sector, is arguably the more valuable outcome.
