Rhys McClenaghan was named the Gymnast of the Year for the fifth consecutive year on Saturday at the 2022 Gymnastics Ireland National Awards in partnership with Marsh, after becoming the first-ever Irish World Champion gymnast.

Gymnastics stars, VIPs and fans alike celebrated the amazing results of 2022 at the Radisson Blu, Golden Lane in Dublin, recognising a year that saw life begin to return to normal following the 2 previous years impacted by the pandemic.

The Gymnastics Ireland Performance Programme had its best year ever with an array of stars being recognised on the night including Artistic World Championships qualified gymnasts Halle Hilton, Emma Slevin, Daniel Fox and Ewan McAteer, Artistic World Cup medallist Adam Steele, World Cup Champion Eamon Montgomery and Tumbling World Age Group finalists Cliona McLaughlin and Hugo Kinah in addition to McLenaghan.

“Nights like this are just so important to bring the community together to recognise all the great achievements from participation through to performance from club level through to national level and to make sure that we celebrate what has been a really great year,” said CEO Ciaran Gallagher.
