AIB has agreed a three-year partnership with GOAL to become the lead sponsor of the humanitarian agency’s flagship fundraising event, the GOAL Mile.

This is one of the strongest community-based partnerships there is and it has never previously had a commercial backer. It is a major boost as the event prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary with events taking place in every county across Ireland at Christmas time.

The GOAL Mile is a long-standing Christmas tradition in neighbourhoods and towns. Each year, it sees families and friends, young and old, getting out for a walk or run at Christmas to raise vital funds for the world’s most vulnerable communities.

With a GOAL Mile happening at over 150 locations, this is a truly unique, inclusive and heart-warming event.

This year, with the backing of AIB, the GOAL Mile will reach more communities throughout Ireland and, virtually, across the globe.

It is one of those events which delivers in a charity environment but also for those who take part and having a strong backer with connections to so many individuals and in so many towns is one of our favourite new partnerships of the year.

Both GOAL and AIB are long-standing members of the Sport for Business network.

“The GOAL Mile has played a critical role in GOAL’s fundraising strategy for 40 years now,” said CEO Siobhán Walsh.

“With the backing of AIB for the next three years, our excitement and ambitions for this event have soared.”

Compassion

“Today AIB is standing with the hundreds of communities across Ireland that already know and love the GOAL Mile. AIB’s partnership shows incredible compassion for the communities in need across the world that this event supports.”

“GOAL helped more than 14.3 million people in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America last year. We could not have achieved this without the continued support of the Irish people.”

“We are honoured to welcome all at AIB into the GOAL family this year. We look forward to AIB’s 9,000+ staff and wide customer base standing with GOAL as we continue our mission to help communities to respond to and recover from humanitarian crises.”

“AIB is proud to partner with GOAL for the GOAL Mile, a renowned and long-standing event that helps transform the lives of the world’s most vulnerable people,” added AIB CEO Colin Hunt.

“We know that the GOAL Mile is already at the heart of many of the communities we serve and we look forward to sharing the joy of this unique event with our staff and customers.”

“At AIB we are committed to building a sustainable tomorrow today, and by supporting GOAL we are reaching those communities that are already suffering deeply from the impact of climate change. With this sponsorship, we will stand together with communities in every corner of Ireland, and in solidarity with our global family.”
