We had been promised some different activations around the Tailteann Cup and on Friday AIB launched an innovative look and listen behind the scenes as part of Tailteann Cup: Mic’d Up.

The tournament is part of the All Ireland Senior Football Championship and the same three sponsors of AIB, SuperValu and eir have been given the right to promote and activate.

This is a winning activation which might not have been accepted by the management and teams playing at the highest level but which was embraced by Longford GAA manager, Billy O’Loughlin and his players.

For the first time in GAA’s history, this AIB series will provide a unique insight into the highs and lows of representing your county from the viewpoint of those involved – the players and the management – as they show what it really means to be #TheToughest in the Tailteann Cup.

Fans of American Football will be familiar with the concept of having players and coaches mic’d up for highlights after the game has finished and that’s what we get here in a series filmed and produced by fellow Sport for Business members Fifty-Three Six.

Longford manager, Billy O’Loughlin is joined by captain and vice-captain, Mickey Quinn and Darren Gallagher, for the first of the series. AIB followed their journey as they lost out to Fermanagh in the opening round of the Tailteann Cup – allowing fans a unique insight into what really goes on out in the heat of battle.

All the hits, all the halftime exhortations, raw and as they happened. It’s a great way to look back on a game and will be followed through the tournament to provide a unique ‘scrapbook’ of what it has been like to play with the prize of a Croke Park Final that most at this level could only have dreamed of before.

Supporters of the GAA since 1991, AIB has seen what it takes to compete in #TheToughest games in Gaelic Games and recognises the unique ability of the GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Championship to spark this famous passion and remarkable resolve in teams and fans around the country.

It follows a rich tradition in #TheToughest activations from full documentaries and bite-size content, from Jeffy and Kammy’s trip to Croker to last year’s Behind the Gates series with Roscommon GAA.
