It’s a busy time of the year in the GAA. With the pitch covered at Croke Park to accommodate 160,000 Bruce Springsteen fans the focus has been off the pitch this week with sponsors forming an orderly queue to make their own mark on the Championship as it comes to life.
AIB had a very strong first year as sponsor of the Football Championship and any fears that the balance between their long standing support of the Club Championship would be diminished were knocked firmly out of the park as #TheToughest campaign went from strength to strength.
The crossover from local to national could have been tricky to get right but focusing on the players and backing that up with The Toughest trade on RTÉ and across social media proved to be a big winner.
This season’s launch continued the theme with county stars displaying their club colours on either side of AIB Group Brands Director Mark Doyle.
There were no conflicting sponsors across the eight jerseys which could have taken some degree of planning and the theme of club and county will continue this season.
“We are delighted to be in our second year of sponsoring the Football Championship,” said Doyle.
“Backing club and county is unique in the GAA and something we are very proud of.”
Join us next week when we will be looking in detail at some of the plans for activation that AIB and their agencies will be implementing through the summer.
