We are just under two weeks away from one of our favourite events of the year, the PExpo at Dublin City University.

This is like the BT Young Scientist but with all the projects in the field of sport and physical activity.

The inclusion of PE on the Leaving Cert curriculum was an important step forward in terms of creating a lifelong understanding of the benefits of activity.

The appointment of Minister of State Thomas Byrne in December to a dual responsibility of Sport and Physical Education is another sure sign that Government is fully committed to creating the right environment for long-term health and wellbeing.

Sport for Business has been a long term supporter and once again this year we will present a special prize to the project which we feel has got the greatest potential to become a business in one of the many spaces covered by the PExpo from nutrition to technology, media to data and more.

Last year’s winners came from Mount temple in Dublin and they got to present their idea for a new Hazelnut based Protein snack to the Sport for Business Sponsorship Showcase last September.  Next month we will visit the school to give a talk about careers in the business of sport.

As part of the day and in the build-up to the announcement of the winners, we run a Q and A show on stage in front of hundreds of those who have exhibited through the morning.

Among the guests, we will have on stage are National Volleyball Coach Andrei Molnar; Olympians Michelle Finn, Aifric Keogh, and Marcus Lawlor; and eight-time All-Ireland winner Philly McMahon. In previous years we have also been joined by Olympian Jack Wooley, Decathlon, Sport Ireland and many more.

It is an inspiring day and one we would like to extend an invitation to join to all Sport for Business members.

Come along and soak up the enthusiasm and smart thinking from the students, or join me on stage to tell the story of your sport to your potential future players.
