The GAA has opened applications for its 2027 Official Charity Partnership programme, with registered charities across Ireland invited to apply for one of four places.
Each selected charity will receive a direct donation of €25,000 from the Association, alongside the opportunity to use the GAA’s national reach and profile to build awareness of its work, services and impact.
The programme has now generated more than €1.8 million in direct charitable support since its establishment in 2008, with more than 60 organisations benefiting over that period.
Successful charities are also given the opportunity to work alongside the GAA during the year, using the Association’s communications platforms and community network to highlight their causes and connect with audiences across the country.
That reach is significant given the GAA’s presence through clubs in almost every community on the island and the strong tradition of local fundraising and charitable activity already embedded within the organisation.
“As a community, the GAA is always at its best when it is about people,” said Jarlath Burns, GAA President.
“Clubs throughout Ireland put this on display with the incredible work they do supporting their localities and through the work they do for countless charities – all of whom make a positive impact.
“Since 2008 the GAA has matched this commitment with our own official charity partnership programme. I look forward to extending the programme to welcome even more incredible charity partners for 2027 to continue the work of improving and benefiting people and their communities.”
The 2027 programme will again see four charities selected, representing a combined direct contribution of €100,000.
The initiative is an extension of the GAA’s wider social role, combining direct financial support with the considerable communications value that comes from association with one of Ireland’s largest sporting and community organisations.
Applications are open to registered charities only and will close on November 30th, 2026.
