It might not have the biggest attendance or the most number of words written about it but the England Ireland Rugby Clash which has the most at stake this St Patrick’s Day Weekend is the clash of the Women’s sides at Donnybrook Stadium on Friday night.

There is a Championship on the line, there is a winner take all battle for the Grand Slam, and there is the narrative of the two sides heading for the Women’s Rugby World Cup here in Dublin and Belfast as leading contenders in five months time.

When the eyes of the sporting nation will be on the women’s team as rarely before team sponsor Aon has chosen to give over their shirt front sponsorship to Inner City Helping Homeless, a charity fighting homelessness in Dublin since 2013.

The risk and people professional services firm will vacate their jersey sponsorship for Ireland’s final game of the 2017 Six Nations Championship, the first time an Irish jersey was handed over by a sponsor to a charity for a competitive Women’s international match.

Read Rachael Ingle of Aon’s Exclusive interview last week on the company’s involvement with the Irish Women’s Rugby team.

Three did a similar initiative with Focus Ireland last year in their final game as team sponsors though that branding was restricted to the anthem jackets and an award winning digital campaign and not to the front of the shirt.

Aon have partnered with ICHH since March 2016, and have pledged to continue their support to the charity in 2017. The jersey initiative marks the first of several fundraising events Aon has pledged to assist ICHH this year.

“Our senior clients really get what we are doing with Women’s Rugby and Women’s sport,” said Aon’s Rachael Ingle speaking to Sport for Business last week.

“There are more senior people than you might imagine, men and women, who really do see this as being something worth supporting.”

“Preparing for the unknown is critical in business, in sport and in life and this initiative is another way of showing that Aon is ready to step up in terms of doing the right thing when something you could never imagine happening, actually happens.”

Friday night will be a great night for sport and we are delighted to be a part of it.”
