Athletics Ireland is to expand the number of its children’s summer camps in partnership with Little Athletics sponsor Forest Feast.

The Forest Feast Athletics Summer Camps will be run at nine different athletics clubs nationwide throughout June and July giving participating young people the chance to try a  range of athletics activities from sprinting to javelin, hurdles, shot putt, long jump, walks and relays.

The camps are focused on fun and fitness, and are open to boys and girls aged six years and above.  All the camps are run by fully accredited Athletics Ireland Leaders.

On the final day of each camp, every child will be presented with a medal and a certificate in recognition of their efforts. As well as learning new skills and making new friends in a fun environment, each child will go home with a New Balance T-Shirt, Spike Bag and Water Bottle.

Irish Long Jump Record Holder Kelly Proper is an ambassador for the Forest Feast Athletics Summer Camps.

“These camps are a fantastic opportunity for young children to have fun and try athletics during the summer holiday period,” she said launching the programme.

“They will give these kids a chance to develop many aspects of their physical abilities, such as speed, agility and balance in a fun environment.”

“Forest Feast is proud to be kicking off a summer of athletics and fun through the Forest Feast Athletics Summer Camps,” added Forest Feast Field Sales Manager Christine Whelan.

“Warmer months represent an ideal time for young people to get into the fresh air and get active, instilling a fun and healthy relationship to fitness. Being part of these camps will give young people an opportunity to develop skills and make friendships that will last far beyond the summer.”
