Compass Group which manages the Aviva Stadium’s food and drink services have teamed up with UK based cloud technology company, Preoday, to launch the free App which allows customers to pre order drinks at the venue, and collect them from a ‘fast pass’ collection point in two of the main bars.
Fans first need to download the ‘My Order App’ from iTunes or the Google Play store on their phones and enter the code ‘AVIV’ so as to access the drinks menu for the ground.
Orders can be placed and paid for through credit or debit cards. Then at the break, instead of queuing up, customers simply go to the dedicated collection point, show a code on their phone and walk away with their drinks.
The App trialled successfully at the Ireland v Italy RBS 6 Nations game earlier this month in one outlet and has been expanded for the inter-provincial derby to the main bar on Level 1, located at block 124 (available between blocks 120-128), and the primary drinks outlet on Level 5, situated at block 525 (available between blocks 520-525).
“We’re delighted that the My Order App will be in use for the Munster and Leinster match this weekend,” said Catering Operations Manager at the Aviva Stadium, Martina Flood.
“Supporters who use the App will benefit from no queues and therefore a heightened consumer experience. ”
“Fans can download it at home and put their orders in before they even get into the ground. The service is available now right up until half time at the match. Once they get to the bar all they need to do is show the code that they’ve been sent on their phone to staff at the designated area and their drinks will be there waiting for collection.”
This is a first for Irish stadia but is fast becoming an essential part of the fan experience in venues across the US and elsewhere.
The NFL has this week approved an app for teams that will enable them to offer seat upgrades, catering orders and ‘memorable experiences’, all of which add revenue on the day, a better experience for customers, and real opportunity for brands to activate their game day marketing.
“Our app provides real time analysis of who is ordering what, from where, and how much they are paying,” said Andrew White, CEO of Preoday speaking to Sport for Business.
“This enables stadium operators access to information that can make them more efficient in terms of staffing and pricing.”
“We will work with our partners to deliver an evolving service that fans and other commercial partners will get real value from.”
