Amy Broadhurst has become the third boxer to be named as the Irish Times / Sport Ireland Sportswoman of the Year.
The Louth-based 25-year-old won World, European, and Commonwealth titles during the year and now has her sights firmly fixed on Paris in 2024.
She was presented with her award by Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin, Irish Times Sports Editor Noel O’Reilly and Sport Ireland CEO Dr Una May at a special lunch yesterday in the Shelbourne Hotel where all the monthly winners over the last year were also recognised.
Áine O’Gorman received the Outstanding Achievement Award on behalf of the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team to mark thei qualification for next year’s FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
