Irish based Adventure Race promoters Quest Adventure Series have signed multiple Olympic medallists Alistair and Jonny Brownlee to become ambassadors for their growing range of races around the world.

The series began five years ago hosting the Killarney Adventure Race but has grown in 2017 to seven races across Ireland, Scotland and Wales and more expansion on the cards for Europe and the United States.

Killarney started off with 500 participants braving the elements in the rugged Kerry landscape and the series has now grown to 10,000 participants, making it the biggest adventure sport event of its kind in the world.

Buzzing

‘We’re buzzing to have found our newest Questfinders Jonny and Alistair,” said Oliver Kirwan, Founder of Elite Event Management who have developed and run the Series.

“They share our ambitions and adventure is a way of life for them, just like us. I am delighted to welcome these two like-minded people to the Questfinders team and together we will develop the most demanding routes and adventures for our racers.”

“This is the first time a uniquely Irish owned mass participation event is developing a new concept internationally and its an exciting time for all involved.”

Amazing

Two-time Olympic gold medallist Alistair Brownlee said, “Away from the Olympics and ITU competition, Jonny and I live, train and love life in the Yorkshire Dales. Cycling and trail running in amazing surroundings that we’re proud to call home.”

“We’re absolutely delighted to work with the Quest Adventure Series in bringing the world’s best one day adventure races to the UK, starting with Betws-y-Coed Wales.”

“Jonny and I are looking forward to taking part in a Quest adventure race very soon’
As part of team, they will be racing at Quest and will be part of the Questfinders team developing new routes and epic adventures.”

Extreme

The combination of running, cycling and kayaking through extreme and extremely beautiful natural environments is capturing a mass market audience, one that is key to a growing sports tourism sector and which attracts participants with money to spend.

Having a privately owned Irish company developing races in areas such as Loch Ness is testament to the vision and the ambition of the team behind Quest.

Oliver Kirwan spoke at our January Sport for Business Round Table event on Sports Tourism and is an active member of the Sport for Business community.
