Budweiser stepped up their partnership with the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at the Aviva Stadium yesterday inviting Gaelic Games stars Hannah Tyrrell and Lee Chin as well as Bohemian FC’s Liam Burt to try their hand at some of the skills which will be on show.
The big game between the Northwestern Wildcats and the Nebraska Cornhuskers takes place on Saturday, August 27th in what will be a significant boost for inbound tourism from the United States and a sporting spectacular.
This is Budweiser’s first significant sponsorship in Irish sport since exiting its long term deal with the Irish Derby over a decade ago and they are putting serious weight behind their involvement
They will transform the Presidential Suite in the Aviva Stadium into an American Football experience giving fans the chance to win the ‘Best Seats in the House’ in a competition running through pubs, off licenses and supermarkets.
It includes a meet and greet service, hospitality in the biggest private suite in the stadium situated on the 50 yard line, a commemorative game day programme, gameday grub and Budweiser on tap.
“We are delighted to partner with Budweiser as the official beer partner to the Classic,” said Brendan Meehan Commercial Director of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.
“As an iconic American brand, Budweiser knows what the fans want and can bring excitement to the Classic over the next five years.”
Speaking to media yesterday Hannah Tyrrell admitted to being a huge fan of American Football and a long time supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Having had unexpected time off this summer with dublin’s early exit from the TG4 All Ireland Championship she said that she had rejoined a social football team but that was also preparing for the Go Ahead Dublin Senior Championship with her club Na Fianna and was keen to go again with Dublin next year.
That is of course so long as hauling in a Touchdown pass does not turn her head more towards a different kind of sporting ambition.
