Centra Ireland has officially launched its sponsorship of the 2026 All-Ireland GAA Senior Hurling Championship as well as the return of its GAA Sharpshooter Competition.

The launch, held at St Vincent’s GAA Club, brought together some of the game’s leading figures including Brian Hayes, Noel McGrath, Paddy Deegan and Conor Burke, underlining the strong player engagement behind the campaign.

Central to this year’s activation is Patrick Horgan, the Championship’s all-time leading points scorer, who returns to spearhead the Sharpshooter initiative following its introduction in 2025. Horgan, who concluded his inter-county career with a record tally of 32-683 (779), is lending his profile to help inspire the next generation of players.

The competition targets children aged 8–12, encouraging grassroots participation through a simple but scalable mechanic: young players collect a Sharpshooter target sticker in participating Centra stores, place it on their club’s ball wall, and upload their efforts on social media. The initiative blends in-store activation, club engagement and digital amplification, reflecting a modern, multi-channel sponsorship approach.

Winning participants will secure a €1,000 prize for their local club and an opportunity for their team to play at the 2026 Hurling for Cancer Research charity match, linking community participation with a high-profile national event.

Centra’s association with the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship dates back to 2010, making it the longest-serving sponsor of the competition. The partnership continues to demonstrate the brand’s long-term commitment to Gaelic games and community-level investment.

“The beginning of a new Championship season always brings renewed excitement and anticipation for players and supporters alike,” said GAA President, Jarlath Burns. “Centra’s continued commitment to the All-Ireland GAA Hurling Senior Championship is a testament to their support for our games at every level. The Sharpshooter Competition is a wonderful initiative that will inspire young boys and girls across the country to showcase and sharpen their skills. We look forward to another thrilling summer of hurling in 2026.”

“Centra has proudly supported the All-Ireland GAA Hurling Senior Championship since 2010, and we are delighted to officially launch the 2026 season surrounded by so many legends of the game,” said Musgrave Director of Marketing, Rita Kirwan. “Our partnership with the GAA reflects our deep-rooted commitment to local communities. Centra retailers support approximately 1,000 GAA clubs nationwide to the value of over €1.5 million annually and with our extensive footprint across the country and our support for Gaelic games we truly believe where there’s hurling, there’s Centra. The new GAA Sharpshooter Competition is about nurturing young talent, celebrating skill, and giving the next generation of players a platform to shine.”

The 2026 season also saw Centra extend its Gaelic games portfolio through the title sponsorship of the Centra Camogie Leagues, further strengthening its position as a key commercial supporter across both hurling and camogie.

Fans will be able to follow the campaign across Centra Ireland’s social media platforms, with ongoing content and competition updates throughout the Championship season.
