The Irish Men’s Cricket team has returned to Test Match action in Bangladesh this morning with the action being streamed back to Ireland and the UK on new streaming service Clubber.
This is only Ireland’s fourth-ever Test Match with Covid and lockdowns interrupting what would have been more since gaining full test status from the International Cricket Council in 2017.
Ireland made history last Friday when they defeated their hosts by seven wickets in the third T20 international. Mark Adair picked up 3 wickets in that game and is one of five players in the squad with test match experience.
Clubber will be broadcasting all 5 days of the action live. The business was set up this year by executives from Microsoft in Dublin. It has signed a deal with Leinster GAA and also has rights to show top class snooker, darts, motorsport and boxing.
It has exclusive UK and Irish rights to the tour of Bangladesh and has enabled viewers to tune in for a day pass at a cost of €3.99, a five-day pass for the Test match costing €9.99 or for all content at an annual price of €79.99.
The service will show seven games from across the Leinster Minor and U20 Football Championships over the next 36 hours.
“As an Irish company, it’s very pleasing for us to be able to bring games like this to life for all fans. It’s another important step in our evolution as a company as we look to build a portfolio of sports going forward,” said CEO and co-founder Jimmy Doyle, a 25 year veteran at Microsoft before setting up the new business.
