A new player in the fitness event space has officially entered the Irish market with the launch of TRYKA, a hybrid fitness race league designed to be more inclusive and accessible than global formats such as Hyrox.

Founded by entrepreneur Brian Lee, best known for creating Freshly Chopped, TRYKA promises to reshape the fitness event landscape in Ireland by placing community, accessibility, and Irish pride at its core.

The league’s inaugural event will take place at RDS Simmonscourt in Dublin on 11–12 October 2025. The TRYKA league will run for 12 months, culminating in a season finale in the Algarve in October 2026. Events will be hosted across Ireland and are open to all fitness levels.

“We created TRYKA to offer something fresh, inclusive, and proudly Irish,” said Brian Lee. “We’re building a new community that welcomes everyone, whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or you’re a seasoned athlete.”

Lee, who has competed in Hyrox events across Europe, said the idea for TRYKA was born from a sense that existing formats were too exclusive.

“Many people love the idea of hybrid fitness racing, but feel it’s out of reach — too intense, too exclusive or just not for them. TRYKA is designed to change that and bring fitness racing to the wider public,” he said.

TRYKA’s signature race format will consist of 8 x 800-metre runs interspersed with functional fitness stations. For beginners, a shorter option — the TRYKA 500 — will feature 500-metre runs and scaled-down workouts to make the event less intimidating.

“We wanted to build a league that puts community first — where everyday gym-goers, beginners and corporate teams can come together, challenge themselves and have fun in a supportive atmosphere,” Lee added.

TRYKA is also developing strategic partnerships with local gyms, clubs and corporate teams to promote participation and community engagement beyond race day.
