Dennis Cousins is leaving his role as Commercial and Marketing Director of Cricket Ireland to take up a new role as a Commercial Consultant with Redstrike, an international group led by fellow Irishman Mike Farnan.
Cousins will take up the newly-created position of Commercial Director to the Sri Lanka T20 Cricket League, on behalf of Redstrike, from 1st September after he steps down from his position as Commercial Director in Cricket Ireland this month.
He has been a key member of the team at Cricket Ireland, overseeing all commercial activity during the transition from Associate Cricket Nation to Full Member Test Status.
Amongst the partners he introduced to Irish cricket were Turkish Airlines, Tourism Ireland, O’Neill’s, KPMG, ITW, Hanley Energy and Indian conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji.
He was involved in Ireland’s first full test match on Irish soil against Pakistan where he was pictured above in the company of Mick Jagger who was in town for the day.
Prior to his time in Cricket he was sponsorship manager with Eir, overseeing their long term deal with the FAI.
Always a pleasure to deal with he will be a loss to Cricket here but will no doubt add to our reputation on the international stage.
“After spending a lot of the last ten years working with rights holders, brands and other organisations in South-East Asia, having the opportunity to now work alongside IPG on the Sri Lanka Premier League and on other projects with IPG is something that I’m really looking forward to,” he said.
“The IPG Group continue to demonstrate their ambition to become a global sports media organisation and it’s exciting to be part of this along with Redstrike to grow our respective businesses together.”
