Cricket ireland has confirmed to Sport for Business that the first and second one day internationals against India at Malahide are completely sold out, and that the third and final day is heading in the same direction.
India are one of the top countries in the world and with a passionate fan base that is second to none.
The strong Indian community in Ireland will be out in force and there will also be strong numbers travelling over from England to see their heroes.
TV arrangements have also been finalised with TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport showing each of the three matches on August 18th, 20th and 23rd.
They wil be shown in the UNited States on the Willow network, in Canada on ATN and on Etisalat across the Middle East and North Africa.
The games will also be shown live in India where they will attract a bigger audience than any sporting event would dream of taking place on Irish soil.
“Malahide generates a special feeling – especially when a big team comes to town,” said Lorcan Tucker who will be expecting to play in one or all of the matches.
“We know India may have a good deal of support, but to have such a big crowd – it’s brilliant for cricket in Ireland.”
“The team are quite experienced with these bigger games. We’ve played in World Cups; we’ve played against India before. We know what it’s like when these big pressure games come around. They are the showpiece of the summer for fans in Ireland. We just want to make an impression, stay nice and relaxed and play with confidence. That’s our main motto going forward.”
