The build-up to the Spar European Cross Country Championships taking place in Dublin in December will get underway next month when the 5th edition of the Autumn Open International Cross-Country Festival will take place at the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus, Abbotstown on Sunday 17th October 2021.
That will be the venue for European Championships on December 12th. The event is one of the biggest on the European athletics calendar and was postponed in 2020 due to Covid.
Entries are now open for next months event, held with the support of Fingal County Council.
It will give athletes the perfect opportunity to kick start their 2021 cross country season, showcasing their form ahead of the Irish Life Health National Cross-Country Championships in November and the European Championships the following month.
There is sure to be a strong international entry at this year’s festival which will see the Senior Women’s 6,000m start at 2 pm, followed by the Senior Men’s 7,500m from 2.45 pm.
