Resurfacing, improvement and the construction of new cycle paths around the greater Dublin area will be a key focus of a €12 million investment in transport announced yesterday.
2012 will be the first time in many years that more money is spent on public transport than on roads.  One of the major projects will be the development of a new walking and cycling route linking the UCD campus at Belfield with the Dart.
The money is being made available under the Sustainable Transport Measures Programme 2012 by the National Transport Authority which will manage and oversee the projects to ensure that work is progressing satisfactorily.
